How to make lip gloss
Ingredients :
bees wax (pellet-shaped works the best)
sunflower oil
flavoring and or scent
coloring (obtain from your favorite lipstick)
Steps
Gather all the ingredients. You can purchase flavoring and scent for lip gloss from any good craft stores; bees wax can also be purchased at the craft store. At the grocery store you can pick up the sunflower oil and flavorings such as mint extract.
Begin making the lip gloss by preparing a double boiler. (See "Tips")
Place a quarter cup of the bees wax in the pot. Add two tablespoons of the sunflower oil. Turn the burner on low heat and stir the mixture of oil and wax continually as it slowly melts.
Once the wax and oil have melted together, remove them from heat and add flavorings, scents, and/or color. Pour it into small pots for storage.
Let it cool for at least an hour and enjoy your homemade lip gloss.
Tips
You can usually locate some nice tins or pots at the dollar store.
At most crafts stores, you can find twist-up 'lipstick-like' containers.
A double boiler is made by placing a small pot over a slightly larger pot with water in it. Be sure the small pot doesn't touch the water in the larger pot. Check the water level frequently so the bottom pot doesn't boil dry.
You may also improve your homemade lip gloss by adding Vitamin E, sun block or even menthol.
Extend your lip gloss' life by storing it in the fridge when not in use.
You can also combine a little bit of old, crushed eyeshadow to Vaseline for more colors.
